Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint marked his Instagram debut in November 2020, by posting a picture along with his newly born daughter, Wednesday G. The picture had the little princess resting on his shoulder while he posed for a selfie. After this post, the actor broke records on the digital platform for garnering a maximum number of followers in less span of time. Before Rupert’s account, Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston’s account was followed by 1 million in minimum hours. The actor set the record by garnering a maximum number of followers in four hours and a minute. Rupert has now credited his daughter for smashing the record and breaking the Internet!
Rupert, after joining Instagram, captioned his debut post as, “Hey Instagram....only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert” Commenting on creating the fastest celebrity account to have 1 million followers, Rupert told Entertainment Tonight he told he credits it to his little daughter. He said, “I think Wednesday actually broke the internet, personally. She gets the credit.” He also spoke about his decision to join the social media platform.
He said, “Then I just thought, ‘It’s been such a crazy [time]. So why not?’ It’s insane.”
When the actor had dropped his first post, it garnered 3.4 million likes as soon as it was posted; his followers went on to 4.1 million followers. This title was held by Sir David Attenborough, Selena Gomez and Beyonce in the past.
